Client Feedback
Notes from producers and editors who have used newflare for field shooting, editing, training or workflow advice.
What newsroom colleagues have told us
The letters below come from editors and producers who worked with us on different kinds of jobs. They describe what the work was like day to day, in their own terms.
We needed a crew on a developing local story at short notice. Tom was on location quickly, kept our desk updated by phone and the footage arrived with clean audio and plenty of cutaways. Our editor said it was straightforward to cut into the lunchtime bulletin.
Callum spent two days with our team and mapped how stories went from pitch to air. He found two approval steps that nobody needed and a handover that kept getting lost. The changes were small, and we have kept them in place since.
We sent a reporter to Tom's handheld session before a busy summer of events. She came back more confident on moving subjects and her framing improved noticeably. The session was short and kept to what she would actually face on the job.
Priya's edits arrived on time and in our house format. Captions were checked, names were spelt correctly and the audio levels matched our other material. When we asked for a shorter cut afterwards, it came back the same afternoon.
The newsrooms and audiences we serve
newflare works for people who put television news on air across the UK. Some need extra hands on a story, others need a clearer process or a trained crew. The groups below describe the kinds of teams that tend to get in touch with us.
Regional television newsrooms
Small desks that need field crews and fast edits without adding permanent staff, especially for developing stories and busy bulletin days.
Bulletin producers
Producers who need finished packages in a set format and running time, with captions and graphics checked before delivery.
News editors
Editors looking to shorten the path from pitch to transmission and reduce hand-offs that slow a story down.
Reporters and camera crews
Journalists and operators who want practical sessions on shooting fast-moving events with handheld and shoulder-mounted cameras.
Event and festival organisers
Organisers who want a news-style multi-camera record of a concert, festival or public event for use in local television segments.
Independent news teams
Smaller production groups that need an edit suite, captioning and graphics for daily bulletins without building their own post-production.
